MAY ISSUE
The Tuscan landscape changes into a vibrant colour palette during May. Poppies and Irises bloom, the vineyards come alive and around late May, cherries can be found everywhere.
We visit the Tuscan town of Lari, located in the province of Pisa, known for its impressive castle, the Castello dei Vicari. You can admire the impressive 360° view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside from the walls of the castle.
Lari is also known for its annual Cherry Festival that is held over two weekends where the residents celebrate their famous, local cherries that have been picked that very morning.
Lari is home to the Martelli family who has been making pasta using traditional techniques since 1926. A beautiful story about family pride and respect for the craft of making pasta.
Chef Arturo Dori shows us how to make his favourite Spring pasta dish using vegetables of the season; asparagus, peas, fava beans, and monk’s beard. So delicious and perfect for these warmer days!
We couldn’t exclude Cherries from our recipes this month so we’ve included an old Tuscan recipe called Giulebbe di Ciliegie.
Thomas Martini serves up a new cocktail that will have you looking forward to Summer holidays and aperitivos in the sun!
Enjoy MAY!
