So it’s been a few months since I posted but I swear it seems like yesterday! I have been so busy that the time has flown and am excited to share with you what I’ve been up to these last few months!
You may have noticed that the This Tuscan Life magazine hasn’t had any publications yet this year – well this is sadly true as I had to take a little break to focus on some new studies. I had to admit to myself that I wasn’t wonder-woman and couldn’t ‘do-it-all’ and so I used the time (when I wasn’t studying) to think about the magazine and how I wanted it to evolve. I have decided to publish four issues a year now – so one for each season with the content retaining the same formula of featuring places to Visit, Artisans and their craft, Recipes, Cocktails and a few new surprise articles. The first issue in the new seasonal format will be Summer covering the months of June, July & August.
So what was I studying you may ask? Well after numerous requests to do food and personal shopping tours, it seemed like the natural thing to do was to get my permit to be an ‘Accompagnatore Turistico’ which allows me to do these very type of personalised walks. The course was very intensive and covered history, geography, traditions and gastronomy. I thought that after living here for so many years that I knew a lot about this country but I learnt so much during this course and am excited to share everything with you.
In case you didn’t know, I have been working in the fashion industry for over 30 years as a designer, buyer and marketing manager. I moved permanently to Florence 12 years ago where I had the opportunity to work with one of the best fashion distributors in the country which allowed me to get to know the most iconic boutiques in the city. Two years ago I started up my own lifestyle magazine about Tuscany – This Tuscan Life – where local artisans, restaurants and Tuscan towns are featured in each issue as my way of sharing my knowledge and favourite shopping locations.
If you like the stories that I have shared on the This Tuscan Life blog and magazine and you would like to bring these stories and characters to life during your next visit to Florence, then let me create a bespoke experience for you.
Are you a foodie who wants to taste all of the typical Florentine foods while learning about their origin and how they are made? Maybe you would prefer to visit the artisans whose creative talents are what makes this city so special. Do you love fashion and want to take home a few original designs from the best contemporary fashion boutiques in the city? Or maybe you would like to visit some of the Florentine fashion and design icons that I have personally admired since first coming here in the early โ90s.
I am also available to accompany you out of the city should you choose to visit one of the many beautiful Tuscan towns within easy reach for a special day-trip!
