Just what was needed!
With the freezing temps making us all a bit depressed, the annual ‘Festa di Cioccolato’ couldn’t have come at a better time! For the first time showing in Piazza Repubblica instead of it’s usual location of Piazza Santa Croce (sadly due to the local priests deciding they didn’t want any more fairs in the piazza in front of the church), these cocoa delights were just what I needed to warm my spirits and even though it was tough, in the name of blog research, I tasted my way around the fair.
All of the chocolate treats on display are made by artisans using traditional methods and natural ingredients. From truffles, chocolate dipped fruit, liqueurs, hot chocolate and the famous Florentine fondant tart, Torta Pistocchi, there was every type of chocolate you could imagine. Every percentage of cocoa to satisfy all tastes and interestingly, a lot of alcohol infused flavours on offer too!
We brought home rum chocolates, candied orange coated in chocolate and a mini Torta Pistocchi. Then returned the next day for a bottle of Pistachio & White Chocolate liqueur.
Let’s see how long they last…………….
