Half an hour from Florence, in the direction of Pontassieve is a shopping mecca that attracts many tourists and Florentines alike. The Mall is located at Via Europa 8, in Leccio Reggello but don’t worry if you don’t have a car! There is a specialised bus that travels directly to The Mall from the Florence SITA bus company in Via Santa Caterina da Siena (across from the Santa Maria Novella train station). If you see a group of excited fashionable looking Japanese girls, you know you are in the right place as The Mall is one of their favourite shopping locations when visiting Tuscany.
We went there last week with my brother Chris, his professional shopper, fashionista wife, Mas and gorgeous son Cooper. First stop was the cafe for a lovely cappuccino and brioche to give us that extra bit of energy needed before hitting the shops, then the boys took over the responsibility of entertaining Cooper while Mas and I started our fashion research!

The prices are reduced compared to current retail as the majority of styles on sale are very often last season stock but the prices are still pretty high. For the most scrupulous bargain hunters, the very best time to go is when The Mall is having a sale. I actually bought my wedding dress from here at Yves Saint Laurent and it was about one-fifth of the original retail price.

When you need a bit more nourishment to get you through the afternoon shopping session, The Mall also has a great restaurant called DOT.com located near the entrance. Less expensive and more casual is the cafe/bar downstairs.

The Mall has really been very well designed with lots of grassy areas where the kids can run about plus many benches set up in shady areas for when you need a rest or to add up your purchases and check that you still have credit available to pay your hotel bill!
