March is known as the Pazzerello (crazy) month due to the unpredictable weather.   It is a beautiful time to explore Tuscany, from the country to the coast, to view the changing landscape and ‘awakening’ after the long, cold Winter.

We are very excited to launch our new feature, ‘Cocktail of the Month’ which will see the very talented barman, Thomas Martini from Harry’s Bar Firenze mixing up a new cocktail for each month reflecting the tastes of the season.

For those of us that love Artichokes, this is when they are at their peak. In this issue, we share a few simple recipes that will have you yearning for this delicious vegetable!

There is much debate on where you can find the best Bistecca alla Fiorentina in Florence.  We take you to Coco Lezzone, the iconic trattoria who has been cooking their steak on the same wood-fire oven for over 100 years . 

We also visit Scarperia this month where you can see the artisan craft of knife making.

These delicious soft square pillows of ravioli filled with mashed potato, cheese, garlic and parsley are more commonly known in Tuscany as Tortelli Mugellani, the famous Tortello from Mugello! If you haven’t tried these yet, then add them to your list of ‘must-taste’ when you next travel to this region known as the ‘Green Valley of Tuscany’. 

Barberino di Mugello is a small town found an easy thirty minute drive along the A1 from Florence or 45 minutes from Bologna. For those of you that know me well, you’ll understand one of the things that I find special about visiting Barberino…….. Did someone say Designer Outlet?
